One of the questions I get most often isn’t about the surgery itself. It’s about what comes after. How long until I look normal? How bad will the bruising be? When can I get back to my life?
These are fair questions. And I’ll tell you—what happens in the weeks after your procedure matters just as much as what happens in the operating room.
That’s why we’ve developed a recovery protocol that goes beyond the standard post-op instructions. We use three complementary technologies—Elixir MD, INDIBA, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy—to help your body heal faster, more comfortably, and with better results.
Let me break down what each one does and why we use them together.
“Elixir MD uses specific wavelengths of laser light to stimulate healing at the cellular level.” It’s completely non-invasive—you just sit there while the light does its work.
Here’s what’s actually happening: the light energy encourages your cells to produce more ATP (that’s cellular fuel), which speeds up repair processes. Different wavelengths target different things—blue light prepares your skin before surgery, yellow light activates deeper cellular repair, red light improves circulation and tissue regeneration.
I find this particularly useful for my facelift and neck lift patients, where bruising tends to track down into visible areas. The light therapy helps clear that discoloration faster than I’d expect otherwise. Same goes for blepharoplasty—nobody wants to walk around with bruised eyelids longer than necessary.
Sessions are about 20-30 minutes. We typically start before surgery and continue through recovery.
INDIBA is a radiofrequency device that operates at a very specific frequency—448 kHz. That number matters because research shows it’s uniquely effective at triggering your body’s natural regeneration responses.
During treatment, the device gently warms your tissues from the inside. This does several things at once: it activates the fibroblasts that produce collagen, improves lymphatic drainage to reduce fluid buildup, and enhances circulation to the treated areas.
Most patients describe it as feeling like a warm massage. There’s no downtime from the treatment itself.
What makes INDIBA particularly useful is its flexibility. After a deep plane facelift, we use it early on to reduce swelling and discomfort. For rhinoplasty patients, it helps address that stubborn tip swelling that can linger for months. Later in recovery—whether you’ve had a mini lift, a neck lift, or a revision procedure—it helps with skin quality and minimizing any fibrosis.
I also use it for patients who’ve combined procedures. If someone’s had a facelift with fat grafting and CO2 laser resurfacing, there’s a lot going on in the tissues. INDIBA helps everything settle and integrate more smoothly.
Every part of healing requires oxygen—fighting infection, producing collagen, regenerating tissue. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy dramatically increases how much oxygen your body can absorb and deliver to tissues.
You sit in a pressurized chamber breathing pure oxygen. The increased pressure allows your blood to carry up to fifteen times more oxygen than normal. That oxygen reaches tissues that might otherwise struggle to get adequate supply, especially in areas affected by post-surgical swelling.
This is valuable across the board, but I see particular benefits for more extensive procedures. A full facelift and neck lift involves significant tissue work. Revision facelifts—where we’re operating in tissue that’s already been surgically altered—benefit from every advantage we can give them. Even something like a brow lift or upper blepharoplasty heals more comfortably when the tissues are well-oxygenated.
The benefits are real: faster wound healing, reduced inflammation, better circulation, improved scar quality. Many patients recover more comfortably and return to normal activities sooner than they expected.
Here’s the thing—none of these treatments work in isolation the way they work together.
Elixir MD addresses healing at the surface and cellular level. INDIBA works deeper, activating regeneration and improving lymphatic function. Hyperbaric oxygen provides the systemic foundation, making sure every cell has what it needs to do its job.
They complement each other. They address healing from multiple angles simultaneously. And that matters, because your body doesn’t heal in isolated compartments—it’s all connected.
This is the same philosophy I bring to surgery itself. Great outcomes come from thoughtful planning, not just doing more. These three therapies aren’t about throwing everything at the wall—they’re specifically chosen because they work together to support what your body is already trying to do.
Your recovery protocol will be tailored to your specific procedure and needs. A rhinoplasty patient has different recovery considerations than someone who’s had a lower face and neck lift with fat transfer. Someone getting upper and lower blepharoplasty will have a different timeline than a revision facelift patient.
Generally, that means some preparation before surgery, early sessions to jumpstart healing, and continued treatments scheduled strategically as you recover.
Most patients find the sessions comfortable. More importantly, they find themselves healing more smoothly—less swelling, less bruising, and results that continue to improve over time.
You’ve decided to invest in yourself. That investment deserves to be protected.
Our recovery protocol isn’t about adding things for the sake of adding them. It’s about giving your body the best possible conditions to heal—so you can get back to your life feeling like the best version of yourself.
If you have questions about our approach to recovery, or you’re considering a procedure and want to understand the full process, I’m happy to discuss it during your consultation.
